My name is

, I am a teacher of Computing/Mathematics and am currently working in a secondary school in Glasgow, Scotland. I have been a teacher for over 15 years. In January 2008 I formed the company, Onlinepupils ltd. The aim of this company was to create online resources for teachers and trainers in both education and business.
At present five projects are under development
1. For-teachers.com – this site provides a quick way to find online teaching materials/resources without having to search through multiple sites. {website active and maintained}
2. For-elementary.com - this site provides links to free resources specifically aimed at elementary school teachers. (under development)
3. For-preschoolers.com - this site provides links to free resources specifically aimed at preschool and pre-k school teachers. (under development)
4. For-middle-school.com - this site provides links to free resources specifically aimed at middle school teachers. (under development)
5. Onlinepupils.com - is an online teaching management system. (under development)
This site allows teachers to create and use online resources.
Multiple Choice Tests
• Create tests in English, Spanish*, French* and/or German*.
• Upload your own pictures
• Create picture only multiple choice test questions.
• Create science multiple choice tests with/without pictures.
• Create non-science multiple choice tests with/without pictures.
• Over 48 multiple choice formats.
• Immediate pupil feedback on results via easy to read charts
• Flags up problem questions (with additional help hints for those particular questions)
• Option to display full help page for each problem question/topic. (makes the test a self-contained revision unit)
• In-built system to encourage pupil progress and repeated attempts without negative associations (this works big-time for the full range of pupil abilities - even with the HMIe in the classroom – yes, I have used the system during a school inspection and received exceptionally positive feedback on the system and its potential uses.)
Worksheets
• Create online worksheets (classwork/homework) with/without answer scheme and with/without pictures.
• Choose the display form
a. Just the questions and associated marks (online)
b. The questions and associated marks with buttons beneath each to reveal the answer (online)
• Create worksheets with limited science formatting (if required) with/without pictures
Use of Resources and Tracking
• Create an interactive online year planner for each of your classes.
o Assign worksheets to specific weeks/times, these worksheets will come online and deactivate at the times you have specified.
o Assign multiple choice tests to specific weeks/times, these worksheets will come online and deactivate at the times you have specified.
o Assign online survey sheets to classes again active/inactive at times you specify. These online sheets take the form of a list of pupils skill (you specify) and pupils respond via point and click and/or text responses.
o Assign feedback points for any worksheet or multiple choice test (pupils respond via point and click and/or text responses)
o Enter pupil marks for attempted worksheets.
o Use the same year planner for the following year – just change the start date and assign new pupils to the class.
The system automatically updates the weeks/times to the new academic year still keeping the links to the resources and the times they become active e.g. week 3 on the Tuesday at 6 pm.
• Create login areas for each class (enter the pupil information and the rest is done automatically)
• Tracking
This is the main focus of the system and where a large percentage of the development time has been spent.
Allowing pupils to complete multiple choice tests or worksheets online is pointless unless there is a way to track (in detail) what the pupil/class has achieved.
With this system we are able to track all multiple choice tests and display the following -
Multiple Choice
a. Chart displaying overall class performance (scores).
b. Chart displaying overall class performance (problems questions/topic in order of frequency).
c. Identify common strengths and areas for class development.
d. Zoom in on particular pupils and display their progress and areas for development.
e. Track gender performance over the multiple choice test – identify areas for development and strengths relative to each gender (chart).
f. Track group performance (target pupils into specified groups) and – identify areas for development and strengths relative to each group, e.g. low ability (chart).
With this system we are able to track all worksheet scores and display the following -
a. Chart displaying class scores for the test
b. Chart displaying class scores for the test against archived attempts.
Given the scale of work still to be done it is unlikely it will be ready until August of this year.
